This is a rubber band gun that I built. It is based on a design by Julian Lyndon Marsh, out of his book “Building the Rotary MEK-10X, Rubber Band Machine Gun”. I redesigned pretty much every piece of the gun because I don’t like copying other peoples designs.
The gun is made almost entirely out of walnut. For an additional challenge, I used as much joinery as possible. There are numerous mortise and tenons, dadoes, rabbets, sliding dadoes, and a sliding dovetail. It’s finished with lacquer.
So far, I’ve only loaded about 60 rubber bands on it, which it will fire off in a few seconds. In theory, it should hold over 100 rubber bands, but that gets to be a lot of tension on the whole rig, and it starts getting a little scary.
